06.10.22 - 05.11.22 — EN ATTENDANT KEMEt, villa 76, abidjan, côte d’ivoire
Waiting for Kemet is a personal investigation through photography of the desire to become a mother or not and what this represents in the definition of female identity. Through the images it delivers, the heart is omnipresent and the photographer is in organic fusion with her subject: the motherhood of the other lived and felt.
Photography is here in the field of otherness. It is the other, the alter ego, the friend, who is at the center of the photographic investigation. The artist questions herself from the “other” in order to understand herself better and to refine her quest for identity and autonomy as a woman.
16.09.22 - 11.12.22 — Vantage point SHARJAH (VPS) 10, al hamriyah studios, sharjah, u.a.e
Vantage Point Sharjah 10 (VPS10), a photography exhibition with works that celebrate the medium’s ability to perceive social realities and the diversity of contemporary lives through different perspectives and forms of visual storytelling.
On view at Al Hamriyah Studios, the 10th edition of the annual exhibition includes works by 66 artists from 34 countries, each selected from an international open call.
24.09.22 - 06.10.22 — oUR CITY, AYA EDITIONS at Showroom L’R, grand-bassam, côte d’ivoire
From the shores of Grand-Bassam to the streets of Accra and the banks of Saint-Louis, ‘Our Cities’ narrates the journeys and varied photographic practices of six West African female photographers. Their work is both a documentation of the present and an investigation into the future, challenging the stories too often told by men that came before them.
AYA Editions is a global platform for contemporary female artists from West Africa and the Diaspora with a focus on making art accessible, affordable and obtainable.
